NEW GARAGE EXCAVATION FOOTINGS & FOUNDATION WALLS | JCB and SONS
New Garage excavation, footings, & foundation walls | JCB & SONS. We had
come excavate and put a brand new foundation in for our 24'-0" x 36'-0" Garage in
This big Hi-Hoe made short work of excavating for the new footings.
The footings are poured wider than the wall to make a strong base to carry the new building, and are dug down below the frost line. The groove in the centre is called the key and is used to tie the walls into the footings.
Here are the new foundation walls formed and poured with fresh concrete. The bolts sticking up are the
used to fasten down the new garage we are building.
Gabriel came to inspect our work. We found the main run for a weeping bed that didn't exist in the original permit for the septic during excavating. When we had our footing inspection we discussed it with the building inspector. We went with his recommendation to use a
of 4" ABS under the new garage and than to run the white 3" PVC inside of that for the
for the septic. This sleeve will help protect the white 3" PVC but will also allow for the weeping bed pipe to be replaced if necessary in the future without having to remove the garage floor.
GREY HIGHLANDS PORCH FORMING AND CONCRETE POUR | JCB and SONS
These are the photos of the forms going in for the veranda base. Grey Bruce Construction helped with this process
.
As we were saying earlier, the old veranda base became weak and sunk into the ground due to no proper sauna tubes or foundation. The new base will be on top of this foundation wall with a concrete cap poured on the top by Christian Bender and the JCB & Sons crew.
Also, you can see the one wall of brick removed on the main house. This was due to deteriorated mortar from a leaking roof. The new roof pictures, new brick wall, and finished veranda photos will be up soon!
GREY HIGHLANDS PORCH RENO CONCRETE FOOTINGS | JCB and SONS
The concrete footings were formed and poured by JCB and Sons with the help of Grey Bruce Construction
.
The number one problem with the old veranda was it had no proper base! Therefore it sunk and the concrete face cracked. That isn't going to be a problem with the new veranda the boys are building, it is going to have the proper base under it to ensure it does not move.
